This time we have compiled a list of charity organizations that anyone can contribute to. No matter if you are a local or a foreigner, they will always appreciate a helping hand! There are so many foundations in Ukraine that support those in need, so please do not stay aside. A small gift of your time and compassion may well save someone’s life.

So, here is what you can do to help some charity organizations in Ukraine. They have a long-standing and good reputation.

1. ZAPORUKA

Description:

Charitable foundation Zaporuka has been helping those in need for 10 years. The values of the organization are humanness, honesty and efficiency. The main activities of the foundation include the support for migrants and kids who are fighting cancer.

The psychological help for families is provided in the city of Lviv. Besides, there are 3 dedicated clinics where the kids with cancer are treated. The National Institute of Cancer and the Pediatric Clinic of Neurosurgery are located in Kyiv and the Western Ukrainian Specialized Pediatric Medical Center is in Lviv.

What you can do to support:

There are a few things you can do to help the organization. If you have a wish to donate and assist the foundation in financial terms, they accept the following:

• Online payment with your credit card;
• Bank transfer;
• Help through the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace;
• Make a donation to the residence Dacha where cancer patients can live with their families for free;
• Placing their charity box in your office;
• Buying something from the charity shop.

If you would like to help in another way, you may also:

• Donate food and presents for cancer patients;
• Become a volunteer.

It’s not only money that the organization needs from others. They also value their volunteers’ time and efforts.

 

2. TABLETOCHKI

Description:

Tabletochki is a charity fund focused on helping kids with blood cancer. They offer two types of assistance – medical and psychosocial. They have already helped as many as 2500 children all over Ukraine. The operations of the fund happen mainly in the capital of Ukraine. However, anyone who needs help and treatment can apply on their website.

What you can do to support:

The fund accepts all possible types of help. You may donate a one-time payment or make regular transfers. You may also choose a child whom exactly you would like to support by buying medication or covering surgery costs. You may also donate funds to the hospitals which need renovation.

Becoming a donor or a volunteer are other possible options. You may also support treatment abroad for those kids who cannot afford it. You may find the whole list of fund’s projects here and choose how exactly you may help them do their job better.

 

3. HAPPY PAW

Description:

The charity fund started in 2012. Today, there are a lot of projects under the organization’s scope. There is also a search mission for the pets which got lost. The fund also organizes marathons where the participants can bring their dogs along with them to run.

Every day, the organization helps homeless animals find owners. Also, one can adopt a pet from distance or visit some of the dogs located in the shelters.

In a separate project called “Bioethics”, the representatives of the organization visit Ukrainian schools and promote humane treatment of homeless animals.

What you can do to support:

There are 4 main ways in which one can assist the organization achieve their mission better:

1. Help financially;
2. Become a volunteer;
3. Pick one of the dogs or cats from one of the Ukrainian shelters;
4. Buy one of the souvenirs their online store.

Since this is a growing organization with only 5 years of activity, they are open to new suggestions.

 

4. HAPPY OLD

The fund helps older citizens find fun activities and spend some quality time with each other. Super Onuki (Super Grandchildren) is one of the projects spearheaded by the fund. Under this project, there are numerous volunteers including individuals, restaurants, and sports event organizers, who help older people simply have a good time.

There are other numerous projects focused on making the life of elders better, such as a modelling club, movies, dancing studios, and, of course, some medical facilities.

What you can do to support:

You can support the fund by either donating a one-time or regular payment. You may also become a volunteer or partner and help organize events as well as medical assistance for those in the older stages of their lives.

 

5. VETERANO PIZZA

Description:

Pizza Veterano is a gastro project led by the veterans of war. This is one of many other projectsstarted by the veterans in Ukraine. There are many discounts for the soldiers. Also, the pizzeria offers its visitors to make a donation with the help of which someone else could eat a pizza later for free.

There are also master classes for those who want to learn how to make a pizza. The price for the course is affordable for everyone as one session costs about 1.5 USD. This is the first pizza place in Ukraine that has been mentioned in The New York Times for its vision.

What you can do to support:

One can support any of the Veterano projects by coming to their café and having a dinner there. You may also leave some money for those who may come in later and ask for a hot meal. If they will have no money to pay for it, your investment could go to this good cause. You may also become a business partner if you know how to help the Veterano service promote themselves with your help.

On a separate note, Veterano service helps those who have come from the warzone adapt back to the society. They help find both medical and psychological assistance. So, they will appreciate any help in these fields as well.

 

6. THE HOME OF HAPPY CHILDREN

Description:

This charitable organization has been helping homeless children for 11 years. The association assists dispossessed children in finding homes and cares about them during this transition period.

The Home of Happy Children takes the responsibility of doing a full a medical checkup for every child. Unfortunately, almost every kid who is left behind by the parents has some sort of physical disability.

The fund also helps children who have suffered through domestic violence. Even more importantly, some underage orphans and beggars have found assistance through this organization.

While walking the Ukrainian streets, you cannot ignore the number of homeless children asking for money. The fund helps such children find a better life and leave their dysfunctional families behind.

What you can do to support:

There is a number of activities to help the fund achieve its mission:

• A one-time or regular donation;
• Medical provision for suffering children (the list of needed drugs can be found on the fund’s website or by contacting its representatives directly);
• Help the kids spend some quality time in one of the local recreation camps, which is necessary for their health condition (besides donating money, you may participate in volunteering activities);
• There is also a wish box – you may make one of the kids’ dreams come true by sending a gift;
• Lastly, you may simply donate clothes for the children aged from 3 to 15.

 

7. CHARITABLE FOUNDATION “OPEN PALMS”

Description:

This charitable fund is focused on the issues which have not received the attention of bigger institutions. They try to ensure basic human rights. They focus more on bringing the attention of the wider audience to certain issues rather than on solving the issue on their own.

The Open Palms organization attracts attention and discusses possible solutions with all interested parties. For example, they work with patients who have incurable conditions. They provide access to the needed medical equipment, help the sick lead social lives, and support them and their families psychologically.

Another project allows young cancer patients to exchange mail with “angels”, get some advice from them, and discuss mundane issues.

Besides, together with the HR Network, the organization has spearheaded the project called “DO IT!”. They have gathered enough funds to provide equipment for treating patients with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. They report regularly the money spent and the assistance provided.

What you can do to support: In order to help children, you may either donate towards one of the projects or choose to participate in it yourself. You may help patients participate in social life or exchange presents or letters with some of them.

 

8. KURAZH MARKET

Description:

This flea market is a platform for young people to get together and exchange various goods. The idea is to lower the level of consumerism by re-selling personal belongings. Besides that, the organizers donate a portion of their income to children with disabilities.

Once a year, there is a sales event where all the profits go to one charity chosen by the public.

What you can do to support:

Come to one of the events and buy something for yourself. A portion of your spending will go to good cause. You can also participate as a seller by displaying some of your personal clothes or DIY products for sale.

 

9. BIG IDEA

Description:

Big Idea is a social innovation platform which brings together journalists, artists, critics, and social innovators. This organization has 3 directions:

• A crowdfunding project;
• Social innovations, or ecology-mindful and responsible businesses;
• Micro-advertisements about grants, stipends, and internships.

In such a way, the platform brings together innovators from different spheres. Those willing to participate in a project can simply check the available opportunities on the website.

What you can do to support:

If you are interested in a certain project, you may support it. You may also become one of the institutional partners by reaching out to the project managers directly. Or you may simply send some financial assistance towards the fund. They will be distributed according to the most relevant needs.

 

10. TOLOKA INFO

Description:

Toloka Info is a sustainable building project. The vision of its creators is erecting homes that will last and will not damage the environment.

In the old times, the Ukrainian word “toloka” meant building together. So, the goal is to teach architects, designers, students, construction workers, and ecologists to build effectively and sustainably.

What you can do to support:
Anyone can support the project by providing financial assistance. With its help, the organization can offer courses on the ecological and sustainable building of homes. You may also become a partner and offer informational help. They accept different ideas for their website and seminars. Another way of helping would be volunteering by teaching at one of the courses or just sharing the word-of-mouth about the project in your social media.

 

11. LET'S DO IT UKRAINE

Description:

Let’s Do It is an ecological project focused on making our life more pleasant. By recycling, we can all live in a better place. By choosing greener energy, we can become healthier. By planting more trees, we make our cities more suitable for our children.

The main focus of the organization is the upbringing of the new generation with an ecological mindset. It is harder to change adults but easier to teach kids responsibility from kindergarten.

What you can do to support:

It’s easy to become the partner of this project. It’s enough to reach out to the team and inform them about your interest. By making a donation, you will be featured on their website as a partner. You can become a partner on the national, regional, or city level. When becoming a national partner, you automatically become one of the project’s speakers for their annual event in Kyiv.

 

12. THE UKRAINIAN PHILANTHROPIC MARKETPLACE

Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace is a platform that allows people to post their stories in times of need. When looking for some financial support, anyone can go the Philanthropic Marketplace and share the problem which can be addressed with the help of crowdfunding.

What you can do to support:

As an investor, you can choose any project, any child, or adult, and help them with any amount you might have at the moment. All of the projects posted on this marketplace are validated by the team of professionals.

There are many cancer patients who need your help. There are also medical facilities that need renovation. Each project will provide reports as to how your money is spent.

What you can do to support:

It’s never been so pleasant to be a philanthropist. Get a cake for your friend’s birthday or buy a cheesecake for your loved one – and you are automatically on the list of investors for one of the charity projects.
