Ukraine has plenty of things to offer, you just have to choose which one is the most appealing to you.

1. Participate in workshops.

If you are staying in Lviv and have a couple of spare hours and nothing particular in mind to do (especially on a rainy day), then it is a good idea to get " enlightened" with your kids. Try something you probably have not done before.

Culinary studio "Lozhka" (Spoon) offers classes for kids starting from age 5. Here you can learn not only how to cook yummy stuff, but also find out interesting facts about food. Craft studio "Sverlyk" is a place where you can make things with your hands, using modern mini tools Dremel. You can work with leather, paper, glass, wood, fabric even metal.

Our capital has a lot to offer as well. Here you can find probably any work shop you can think of. But let me outline one for you. Out of hundred possibilities I would choose is a chess class. Chess is one of the most exciting games for the brain in the world. It developes attention, memory, strategic and logical thinking. The cost is 85-100 UAH.

For those who likes aicrafts and planes, you would surely enjoy the State Aviation museum (Zhuliany). 3. Enjoy riding Children Railway

train2

Of course your kids have traveled with you, sitting next to you in a car, train or plane. But it is an adult way of transportation. It would make them happier to know that they have their own railway.

Children railway stations exist in all major cities of Ukraine - Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lutsk, etc. There are 8 of them. These are real trains with wagons and locomotives that run through parks and rest zones. What makes them special, is that they are operated by children in the age of 9-15 years, supervised though by experienced professionals. It would be a cool experience to have a ride in one of those colorful wagons and interact with little machinist or conductor. Stations work May through September.

Ticket price: 3-6 UAH.

4.Have fun at Waterparks

We've talked already about different work shops you can take, but doing it in the Carpathians is a totally different and separate story. We welcome you to Kosiv - a land of pottery. I am sure there are not many of them left out there in the world with the width of 760 mm. There are three operating passenger gauge lines in Ukraine: Vynohradiv–Khmilnyk (in Zakarpattia Oblast), Rudnytsia–Holovanivsk (Haivoron line in Vinnytsia Oblast and Kirovohrad Oblast), Antonivka–Zarichne (in Rivne Oblast). The last one is the longest (106 km) railway of this type in Europe. During the whole rail travel one can enjoy idyllic scenery of landscapes that are still untouched by the civilization: sands, pines, mixed woods, marshlands.

The Carpathian tram is another sample of narrow railroad. This ecofriendly transport attracts many tourists. It allows to view the beauty of Carpathian mountains, drink mineral water, visit interesting places. All for a cost of 15 euros per person only!
