Day 1- Welcome to Kyiv 

Pick-up and Welcome. Meeting with your Active Ukraine guide. Hotel check-in.

Take a guided cycling tour along city’s major landmarks and attractions. Visit the UNESCO-listed St. Sophia Cathedral with its beautiful frescoes; take a walk at St. Andrew’s Descent – street of writers and artists; learn more about the environmental challenges at National Chernobyl Museum, ride along the main streets and squares, as well as, hidden paths, and have a delicious picnic at Pecherski hill observing the Dnipro river and its left bank with Kyiv’s modern blocks.

Day 2 – Golosyivskyy Forest

Enjoy this one-day easy cycling tour in Kiev, in the blossoming Golosiyivsky National Park. This is a unique nature park with its cascade lakes situated right in the central part of Ukraine’s capital. An enchanted forest, picturesque natural landscape and fresh air will help you to forget your daily troubles and enjoy the nature. In the minds of many believers Golosiyivskiy Park and forest are also strongly associated with Golosiyivsky desert, where pilgrims come not only from Ukraine but also from other countries.

Have a delicious picnic in the serene surroundings.

Transfer to Ivano-Frankivsk in a sleeper train.

Day 3 – Ukrainian Carpathians

Arrive in Ivano-Frankivsk and transfer to the village of Kosiv.  

Cycle around Kosiv and surrounding villages.

Spend your afternoon visiting famous Hutsul artisans, skilled in traditional crafts such as egg-painting, embroidery, wood carving and weaving, observe their work and enjoy their beautiful creations. Sit down for a master class in your craft of choice and make your own handmade souvenir.

Overnight in a family-owned guesthouse.

Day 4 – Further and higher in the Carpathians

After nutritious breakfast get on bikes and set off for a 50km ride to the village of Dzembronia which is the best place to explore the highest mountain range in Ukrainian Carpathians – Chornogora.

Before sunset take a short cycling route along the spectacular view of nearby mountain peaks. The exact route will be determined based on your fitness level and interest. All routes are off road.

Enjoy tasty dinner at the end of the day.

Distance: 10 km backroads and singletrack paths/ 2-3 hrs

Day 5 – Explore the beauty of the mountains

All the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians are located in Chornogora range. Besides spectacular views, this place attracts attention by abandoned observatory near Pip Ivan mountain.

Take a day to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains. Cycle around to one of the mountain peaks. Get that real feel of being one to one with nature, very far away from civilization. The route may differ from less challenging to most complicated mountain-biking trails. All routes are off road.

Transfer to Ivano-Frankivsk.

Take a train to Lviv.

Day 6- Coffee and Jazz

Explore Lviv – Ukraine’s most charming and romantic city. Walk along the hidden valleys of its cobbled streets: full of coffee shops, street musicians, and art galleries. Wander around Rynok Square – UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the afternoon take a ride along the so-called Lviv green circle, that captures major city parks and outdoor areas. Start from the ride towards the High Castle hill and take a chance to observe Lviv from the birdsview. Afterward, cycle along the beautiful scenery of Znesinnya Park and Shevchenko Open Air Folk Art Museum. In the open air museum, stop by the exhibitions and learn more about Ukraine’s traditional rural lifestyle.

Day 7 – Cycling outside Lviv

Take the one-day moderate cycling tour around Lviv, and explore the attractions along this popular route in Lviv region. Historical places in Zhovkva and Krekhiv, nature, fresh air and pearly water accompany you while you are cycling.

Start your trip in Zhovkva. Zhovkva is the second-best city in the whole region (except for Lviv) where the most historical objects of the 17th – 18th century are located. There is a castle, a monastery, a market square and defense facilities. The next point of the tour is Krekhiv, the village where the old St. Nicolas fortress-monastery of the 16th – 17th century is situated.

Afterwards, cycle through the National park of Roztochchia with its unique flora and fauna, until you reach the village of Ivano-Frankove. There you’ll get to taste delicious home-made lunch with traditional Ukrainian culinary delights, such as borshch and dumplings. You can even try making your own dumpling!

DIstance: 70 km / Time: 7-8 hrs

Transfer back to Lviv.

Take a train to Odesa.

Day 8 – Odesa, the pearl at the sea

Enjoy your morning breakfast in Odessa, the Pearl of the Black Sea. The city is Ukraine’s fourth largest and a major seaport. Founded in the 18th century, it has an enchanting mix of Italian, French and Russian architecture. Odessa is a vibrant city, energetic and fun, with plenty of activities for all.

After checking in to your hotel, you will enjoy 3-hour guided tour around the main sightseeing landmarks of Odessa. After the marvels of the city, have delicious lunch at one of its beach-side restaurants.

Later cycle along “the route of health”.  The road runs along the shore of the Black Sea. Nature around is striking in its beauty. Planted trees provide welcome shade. A sea breeze brings the necessary refreshment.

Day 9 – Kuyalnyk Estuary

Take a bike ride outside of the city and explore the nature of the southern region. Cycle along Kuyalnyk – an estuary of the Velyky Kuyalnik River located on the northwestern shores of the Black Sea, near the city of Odessa. Average depth is about 3 m. The estuary is separated from the Black Sea by a broad sandbar 3 km in width. The salinity of the estuary ranges from 50 to 160‰.Get acquainted with the unique properties of Kuyalnyk mud and if you like, you can try a “mud bath” and experience healing properties of that procedure.

Enjoy a little picnic with a beautiful view and fresh air.
