9 BRIGHT SUMMER FESTIVALS NOT TO MISS IN JULY

Here comes hot and sizzling summer - time for vacations and holidays. People are searching for some interesting spots to visit, something new and unusual. Beach and seaside are very traditional places for this season. So we invite you to Ukraine, to make your summer vacations different and full of rich experiences. Besides all the marvelous places that are waiting here for you, you can also participate in one of the many festivals . Chose which one is to your liking.

 

1.EtnograFic festival "Games in Duke's Town"

Where? Terebovlja, Ternopil region.
When? the 1st of July.
How much? free

People dressed in medieval clothing march to the hill Zamkova Hora to meet "the king" who used to own this land. Little play up there marks the beginning of the festival. Here you can enjoy performances of various folk choirs, bands and groups from all over the country. Also you can partcipate in different work shops to learn crafts that were popular back in the days. With no doubts, you will have a chance to enjoy some tasty home-made food along with local drinks.

 

2. Etnografic festival "Petrivsjkyy Fair"

Petrivskyy  Fair originated in the age of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was a real center of trade not only in Bukovina, but also in the whole South of the Eastern Europe. It is one of the largest commercial and entertaining events of the country, the second in its scale and popularity after Sorochynsky fair in Ukraine. Each of the grounds had a separate exhibition theme, where several hundred companies producing a variety of industries, small and medium-sized businesses, not only of the 17 regions of Ukraine, as well as near and far abroad, represented their products and presented them to the general public of this fair.

As part of the fair there is one of the largest folk festivals where artisans represent their crafts, amatour groups sing and dance. Another, equally important, major highlight of the event is a  festival of beer and delicious meals, during which the audience expects a lot of fun and a concert of famous Ukrainian musicians.

 

3. Music Festival "Fajne Misto"

The  logo of the festival is - come to the territory of free people, leave out all your daily problems, feel the energy of freedom and a crazy drive for life, make your leisure time unforgetable. The festival lasts for 3 days. It takes up a huge area (territory of Ternopil airport), hosts 60 bands from different countries (Australia, Austria, France, Georgia, Switzerland, etc.) which perform on 4 stages. One of the undoubtfull advantages is that you do not have to look for any hotel to stay. On the same location with the festival there is a big camping "town", with such commodities as shower, bathroom and ability to set fire. Just bring your tent and good mood and you will enjoy it to the fullest.

 

4. Musical Festival "Zhyvyy Zvuk" (Live sound)

How much? 200 UAH

All the lovers of rock music should get interested. Besides all  cool music that you will hear, you will also get entertained by bike show, games of super strong men and fire show. The program is divided into three parts, so you can bring your kids for a day part.

 

5. Eco festival "Cheremosh Fest"

When? 24-26 of Jul
How much? depends on what activity you will participate in

This is a festival of the Carpathian tourist culture. The idea is to preserve the river Cheremosh in its natural and wild condition. Besides an awesome music program, you can participate in rafting  down Cheremosh, go sightseeing all the famous Hutsul places, get involved in various work shops and enjoy splendid views of Carpathian mountains.

 

6.Night festival "Night in Lviv"

When? 10-12 of July
How much? Around 100 UAH

Usually this festival is held twice a year, in November and July. Over a hundred of night excursions to Lviv museums, theatres and galleries are waiting for you along with staged outdoor performances and plays.

 

7. Jewish festival "Lvivklezfest"

How much? Free

Lvivklezfest is an international festival of music, dance and songs, which aims at the revival of Jewish culture. It is held on the streets which are connected with Jewish history. All guests and visitors will able to enjoy performances of amateur groups, family capellas and solo singers. On the final concert songs will be presented in different languages including Polish, German, Hungarian, etc. Upon your wish, you can also dance to hot Jewish violin, or taste some traditional meals, or create a hand made souvenir at special craft stations.

 

8.Odessa International Film festival

Great Festival of full length feature films. Focus on humor in the selection makes the Festival unique and amazing. It takes place in the beautiful Black Sea setting of the old city of Odessa - the birthplace of 'Ukrainian Hollywood'.  Soft climate and beautiful beaches, affable citizens and developed infrastructure together with a great selection of films will make your trip to Odessa fascinating and unforgettable!

 

9. Berry festival "Brusvjana"

Where? Costivtsi village, Zhytomyr region ( 70 km from Kiev)
When? 11 of July
How much? entrance is free

Brusvjana is actually a farm which grows all kinds of berries. Hosts invite you to the festival where you can walk down the fields, pick some berries and learn a lot of useful information.

It is a perfect spot to come with kids. They will be entertained in all possible ways - from playing to actually planting. You might get interested in workshops to learn about landscaping, gardening and flower design. There also will be a cafe, where you can taste all the fresh goodies.
